Dissatisfied with his 4.51-second 40-yard dash time at the NFL scouting combine, Jackson set out to improve that time — and his draft stock along with it — at Notre Dame's pro day March 20. He did, posting a time of 4.40. Jackson continued to work with his trainer, Charles Petrone using his linear speed development resistance training system and tweaked his hamstring training a little bit before pro day.
Yan Gomes was headed to the Minor Leagues for Opening Day one year ago, hoping he might get a taste of the big leagues at some point with the Indians. Not only did Gomes get his opportunity, he seized the starting catching job and gave Cleveland one of its best stories from its memorable summer. The Indians signed Gomes to a six-year, $23 million contract extension, pending the completion of a physical. "He's become a force," Indians manager Terry Francona said of Gomes during Spring Training.
